Hey I'm having the same problem (P2187 and P2189) with the wife's '16 LR4 (SCV6). I was thinking a vacuum leak and I hear some slight hissing from the do-hickey on the passenger side valve cover gasket, but hard to tell if that's normal at idle. What was the resolution in your case Delta V? hmmm - Delta V sounds like an automation problem?

Also, having a devil of a time finding a detailed service manual for the 2016 LR4/Discovery with SCV6 engine (gas). Dealership won't sell one and I can only find manuals for the LR4 w/V8 thru 2014. Anybody know where to find one?

PCV Valve replacement was the fix, at least for me (other users have described more severe vacuum issues). Be careful, another user snapped some of the parts of the valve cover that hold the valve, and had to replace his whole cover.

As for Delta V, I picked it up nearly 20 years ago now, based on physics term for acceleration (change in velocity). Have been using it (or variations if it was already taken) ever since.

that was me. Yes, I could hear the same hissing. When I got the pcv valves off, I didn’t realize I snapped one of the tabs that holds the valve. $1500 mistake for a little piece of plastic.

Ouch - sounds like one of my typical repair jobs... the hard stuff goes well then something simple gets me - especially if it's made of plastic. Apart from the tight access back there, any tricks for the job? Where did you get the PCV valve from?

for the job, pcv valves off amazon. You’ll need two (but in my case only one was bad). I used a dental pick to pull the plastic tabs. In hind sight I would have done the same, just would have used more care. The tabs on the pcv valve were brittle and snapped right off but think the pick also pulled the piece off the valve cover. I also might have pushed down on the pcv valve to help it release easier from the valve cover.

So an update (and I mentioned it in the other PCV thread): I did take it on the trip, and it was mostly good, except it did have a new symptom.

It rev's really high on cold start (sometimes), maybe to 3000 rpm or more, and holds for a little while before coming down. It also threw a misfire on 4/5/6 code. I was fiddling with keys this weekend, and the codes got reset; I just checked again and the lean on banks 1/2 is back, but the misfire isn't. My local independent seems convinced it's the high pressure fuel pumps, I'm a little skeptical considering what I've been reading here about vacuum leaks, especially since it starts ok, just has a little trouble holding an idle when cold.

Another thing: he's telling me that replacing the fuel pumps will be $2500. That seems a little high to me; he itemized $950 per pump. Is that accurate? Atlantic British lists a bosch fuel pump for $270 (I'd post the link, but it seems as if that isn't kosher on this website); heck, Rock Auto lists a Bosch pump for $155. I understand a mechanic needs to make some money on parts, but am I looking at the wrong part somenow?

Did you ever figure out the problem? Replaced passenger valve cover? I have the exact same symptom and lean codes. Cold start my rpm stay at 3k! So frustrating ! Please chim in on your repairs thanks

I just picked up my 2015 RR Sport HSE from the dealer today with the same issue. Smoking the intake revealed that bleeder was leaking on the right hand side, requiring replacement of the right hand valve cover. Just bought this truck 6 months ago, so was able to work with the dealer for $1,800 fix on good faith (they originally wanted $3k)

Also having the exact same issue! It began happening recently on very cold days, and it wasn't until a few times of the rev's going high that the "engine light" came on. The two codes I got were P2189 & P2187 precisely.
Called dealer to have it serviced... (crossing my fingers it isn't too expensive of a repair!).
Will post update.

If it’s a torn PCV diaphragm, I’ve heard that a dealer will sometimes want to replace the entire valve cover. That’s not necessary unless the valve cover itself is leaking vacuum (sometimes they do). The dealers do have the PCV valve diaphragm available separately (I just bought one from the dealer not long ago).

The other thing that can run the price up is that, if you have the supercharged model, the dealer probably won’t replace the PCV without lifting up the supercharger to get better access. It can be done without lifting the supercharger (access is tight, but a couple of us on here have done it), and an indy shop will probably do that for you if you don’t want to try yourself.

Literally just going through this now. Diagnosed to be both PCV crack and a failing fuel sending unit in the gas tank. 2016 SCV6 had both error codes mentioned here and also would surge a bit at idle. 63K miles. Took it to an Indy shop locally to diagnose/repair.

The failing fuel sending unit is new to me. I’ve not ever seen that one before. So, your fuel gauge was off...any other symptoms from that? (The lean codes and engine surging would be the PCV).
