Bummer, you've really had some bad luck but it sounds like things are starting to turn around.

Which tune and what not are you running?

I'm thinking about upgrading mine as well. I just installed 265/65r18 BGF KO2's with the EVO Dakar wheels and I'm feeling I'd like a bit more oomph - haha.
Running velocity AP tune and crank and snout pulleys. It’s awesome. Super smooth and pulls for days on the freeway and above 70mph.
I get most of my day to day effect in low down torque and highway passing ease.

@Fuji4 , thank you for leading the way with this. I'm almost done putting the wife's car back together and I've reviewed this thread often. I'll create a new thread with my lessons learned, but I really appreciate you walking us through this, posting updates, and giving solutions to common problems / hiccups along the way.
Just wish it didn’t cost anything to learn the lessons! That being said I think this engine could be great if they had addressed some of these things from the get go - brittle plastic bits here and there, poorly designed or dabbed crossovers, plastic pulleys, anemic tune for the lr4, etc.
the way I have the car set up now - all Amsoil fluids, transmission zip kit, pulleys and tune, new supercharger oil (it was pretty dry from the factory), EBC brake upgrades all around, new high flow intercooler pump, etc have made this thing come into its own. It is a fast road car and a great off-roader. Body roll like crazy and turns like a pig but whatever. Has a ton of space inside for being a rather compact shape.
My only pipe dream wishes for it would be 35” tires on 18” wheels and the supercharged v8 from the Range Rover.
Overall there isn’t much out there like it. Especially if you are stuck in the city like me. I like the raptor but it is so wide.
Amg g wagon would be pretty much there but that thing is crazy pricey.

sorry to hijack but what's the transmission zip kit? I'm going to be doing the supercharger coupler sometime soon and am planning on going to the smaller pulley when I buy the rebuilt snout.

back on topic: do you need to set the gap on the bypass valve when changing out the snout? I would love to go with the velocityAP tune but the price is a little hard to swallow, especially for the tune + pulley.

Zip kit is a sonnax product to fix common wear related issues in transmissions. Puts o rings in valves that tend to wear. Nice product. Super smooth now. No downshift clunk. you do not need to regap the bypass assuming it is set correctly. Mine was altered accidentally.

If you are in LOS angeles anytime you can test drive the tune. All I can say is that it’s a massive change.

I'm interested in the tune (likely tune only no pulley) for my LR4. Would you have any concerns installing it on one with 49K on the odo? Better to wait until it's time to rebuild the supercharger first? Also (and I'm sure it's hard to say for sure as your driving habits changed) how badly did the tune tank your mpg?

I did it after 55k. No concerns there. I would however make sure to change the tranny fluid and use a solid oil in the truck. And I would change the supercharger oil. Mine was almost dry from the factory. It’s a ten minute job. Needs 3.4oz of oil. But mine had less than an ounce.
I can’t speak to the mpg for a tune only. Mine was practically unaffected. I still get 14.5 in mostly city driving with some highway at 85mph. I use the pedal. The major hp increase will be the crank pulley I think. The snout pulley might have been an additional 20hp.

Cool, thanks. I've seen on Range Rover forums people with the Velocity tune only on the 3.0 scv6 claiming gains of 1-2 mpg which would be nice. I'm averaging 20-22 right now, mostly highway driving 55-65 mph

Well this truck is a pig. It’s never going to be a fuel miser. But it does get a lot more fun with what I would consider to be an appropriate power to weight ratio.

I might actually take you up on that, might be in LA in June for a weekend.
