So, do you think your tune contributed to this? Or just that the failure happened and the extra boost certainly didn't help ?
Well at redline with the pulleys it would be at or over the 20k rpm max for the Unit. Which shouldn’t be a big deal for a moment but I was trying to hold 85mph on a long Steep grade for about 3 or 4 miles. Usually the car sits very low in the rpms because there is plenty of power down low. I never redline the thing.
So I guess I pretty much blame myself for not pulling over and restarting the car to get the boost back. I was just in a hurry and needed to get to my destination and ignored the limp mode not linking the high rpm to a potential problem.

I think with the two pulleys and the tune there is no chance of running it too hot under normal driving circumstances. I found myself in a very odd loophole to that rule.
That being said I am probably going to install a bigger Bosch auxiliary water pump to get more flow through the intercoolers.

Not sure if this is a good option. http://www.car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi but when we did the timing chain after the camshaft broke on mine we ended up buying an entire head from a dismantler instead of dealing with rebuilding existing - was a newer A rated car meaning low miles - saved a ton of time and money. Here is a sample from US web search. Assume it's a 3.0?

I am installing an upgraded supercharger intercooler pump that flows more coolant than the stock unit. It seems to be a common upgrade in the tuner jaguar community for either more power (cooler charge air) or more reliability...

we will see how that goes. should not be too difficult.
and here is a file showing the 002 (stock) vs the 010 (upgraded Bosch) and some other charge cooler pumps.

9C33290C-0F74-4964-812C-68E908A03E68.jpeg Well here’s the latest. Got the supercharger rebuilt and back in the car. Had to replace the hornets nest of coolant hoses that feed it because it is all one piece. Of course it is. $150 from Reno. Better than the $225 local dealers wanted. Replaced the OEM Bosch 002 intercooler pump with the higher flow rate 010 pump - thanks jaguar tuning forums! Here are some pictures. Had to get a Mercedes wiring harness (it’s the oem AMG intercooler pump) and wire that

Anyway here is what we deduced was the perfect storm of issues. 1. Backed out the set screw and did not put back to the correct position which caused the bypass to stick shut during throttle down which caused the truck to go into limp mode. 2. I told my mechanic the wrong fill procedure for the supercharger oil fill. We put in maybe twice the volume of oil because I had the wrong reference for filling it.
so when it went into limp mode and I redlined it the increased oil volume blew a bearing seal and caused the bearing to go which leaked the oil into the intake stream which caused the smoke out the rear of the truck. Then it ran with no oil in it which toasted the components a bit.
Long story short some mistaken info and wrenching in unknown territory caused this mess. lesson there is - supercharger needs 3oz of oil not fill to drain plug as in many other models.
now I have upped the coolant pump size and am considering adding some intercooler fans to help with heat soak in city driving. Pretty cheap and is a common modification on supercharged cars. They are relatively cheap and easy to install.

Well I finally got to the end of the line with the supercharger project. The final hiccup was a squealing serpentine belt that I didn’t investigate enough before a trip to mammoth. It ripped in half in bishop and cost me a $350 tow up the hill to a shop in mammoth. Turns out the tensioner pulley (oem is plastic) had malformed and allowed the belt to walk off the pulley. because I have a modified crank pulley I could not use an Oem belt. Had to get one from velocity AP sent to my house. The shop in mammoth (chevron - good folks there) trimmed my belt and sent me home on a half belt and new metal pulley.

No issues getting home and as my belt was waiting for me I installed it and I am off and running again.
the power and smoothness is wonderful with the new supercharger and new upgraded intercooler pump. Wish I had not gone through all this maintenance hassle but it is a wonderful ride with these upgrades.

Bummer, you've really had some bad luck but it sounds like things are starting to turn around.

Which tune and what not are you running?

I'm thinking about upgrading mine as well. I just installed 265/65r18 BGF KO2's with the EVO Dakar wheels and I'm feeling I'd like a bit more oomph - haha.

What we need as community for more oomph is an option to re-gear these pigs once we start bolting larger tires on them. More power is cool too, but damn, I wish there were some options for gearing.

@Fuji4 , thank you for leading the way with this. I'm almost done putting the wife's car back together and I've reviewed this thread often. I'll create a new thread with my lessons learned, but I really appreciate you walking us through this, posting updates, and giving solutions to common problems / hiccups along the way.
