ugh, you do realize that is on a dyno, right?
I did jsut realize that it was tuned up to 305hp but still the 5.0L still has the up advantages of 70 hp. In the video of the actual top speed acceleration is not on a Dyno. When he gets to the top speed there is far too much wind noise for it to be on a dyno.

Yeah, i am not buying it. Looks like a sloppy strap down on a dyno or the person videoing purposely shaking and titling the phone.

If you turn it up, you hear a ton of mechanical notes like a dyno spinning. If this was a road scenario, then why not show, well, the road before or after. This is just silliness.

LOL. That might be the biggest whopper I've heard in a while. You show me one fool that's removed the rev limiter and driven and LR4 151 mph. Hahaha. That's funny. I guess with the exception of a completely controlled environment with a straightaway and no bumps or curves and that's a maybe.

Come on man, 151 mph in one of these. You might as well have said it sprouted wings and flew.

I might be a fool, I don't know about removing a rev limiter, and I didn't see any wings at the time, but this was part of a training exercise. You are correct that this did not occur within a real world environment.

It took place in a controlled training environment within the parameters of a protective training scenario in a rather private location within the UK.

I can buy it. I am sure our landy will do it. I just would never do it. That said, i am guessing you were not running stock tires. I'm just saying that, 150 in a 911 is not comfortable (at least not for me) and I've done that and more a number of times. In comparison to the LR4, I've done 145 in my old Cayenne. I just couldn't imagine (save for a closed, flat track, anyone taking and LR4 that fast.

And, keep in mind, I'm just having fun and joshin' you guys a bit. I know the LR4 can reach those speeds. I just shutter at the thought of doing it in ours.

Hope I didn't offend anyone.

From my experience, the LR4 is perfectly comfortable doing 80-85 mph. Beyond that it's not as comfortable knowing there are so many bad drivers plus deer, moose and other animals wandering around out there. And troopers seem to take it personal once you are going more than 20-25 mph over the speed limit.

I was once stupidly following a trio of Mistsubishi 3000GT's with manufacturer license plates in my old Integra Type R in rural VT. At around 130 things got insanely uncomfortable. Two hands locked on the steering wheel, focusing so ******* driving as the engine was screaming so loud. (Only a 5-speed manual back then) I have also taken Skip Barber track courses and high speed just isn't as much fun on a regular highway. Or maybe I'm older and wiser now.

I will tell you that from experience the vehicle will go to the equivalent of 151 mph and if you've got the ******** or cojones, it will exceed 70 mph in reverse.

This is hysterical. I always wondered about reverse top speed and here's why...our kids bus stop in about 1/4 mile from our house. Once the bus comes I usually just back up to our house. I've hit around 25 mph and know that the speedometer shows the speed in reverse and ABS works well in reverse when it's snowing. I tried the same thing in our new Honda Passport and the speed limiter kicked in at about 9 mph in reverse...no fun.

Agreed. Which is why I said I don't like to go over 90. But for fuel/ticketing reasons, I keep it under 80. I usually set CC to 76-78 and that gives me peace of mind on our many trips to Montreal and elsewhere in the northeast.

Sadly, we've never actually taken our LR4 on any long trips other than bringing it home from LA (where we bought it) to Seattle. It sees mostly island duty for my wife and our island is really, really small. When we do road trips we are usually pulling the Travel trailer behind Fred, our F350 turbo diesel. So, on the occasion, I take her car to Home Depot and blow the carbon out. The super charger has a nice whine to it, I'll say that and the lux leather still smells new.
