Tfl lists bronco tow rating at 3500lbs. The defender spanks that aspect.

that does suck. Surprised they wouldn't get it to 5k at least. they did a lot of best in class and exclusive to class, but may have just punted on towing. I guess they looked at the wrangler and figured, at 200k unit a year, it's not a big deal. I'd have to agree.

Yeah off-road ability and tow rating are inversely proportionate. Just look at the huge power wagon and it’s tiny tow rating compared to the other hd trucks. The lr4 and defender have big tow ratings for the size of them.

Now if they are smart, McGovern and the gang will be working on getting the Defender facelift to grow a pair at this point.... problem is they fundamentally got it wrong- What a nightmare for LR unfortunately...

Yep.

Triple locked from the factory with 4.6ish gears and 35's, removable top and doors, an engine tuners already know and Ford volume to drive the aftermarket.

This thing looks to be a contender.

I would definitely be shopping it if in the market. The newer Defender does nothing over this except have a green oval on it.

I will be interested to see the interior dimensions on the 4d, and if seats fold flat. I doubt it, but interested to see.

The new Bronco and the Genadier just took every B.S. excuse Land Rover had for "why the new Defender had to look the way it does" and beat them senseless behind the woodshed.

I don't trust that there's anyone at Land Rover who gets it, though. And I certainly don't trust the design team who came up with the Defender to fix it.

Why is this so ? Height? Big articulation ?

It hurts me to say this but for the first time I’m truly disappointed in Land Rover. After seeing the bronco and studying it, it makes me disappointed because there isn’t truly a good market for this defender. But the part that really makes me disappointed is knowing that Land Rover can do so much better.

this defender should compete with the bronco and the wrangler, it should be boxy, the top should be removable, the tires should be bigger. The only way I see Land Rover possibly making a profitable profit off this car is making a removable top. People want an open top go anywhere get dirty 4x4 and that’s where the defender should be.

I was so excited to see a manual transmission will be available on the bronco. But sadly it is only available with the 4-cylinder not the V6. I want the manual and the V6. If Jeep can offer that on a 4-door wrangler, so should Ford.

You can already imagine all the accessories (light bars, roof racks, etc.) that will be available for the bronco. Makes the various Defender "packs" look silly and overpriced.
