Anyone know the recommend compent servicing at 105k miles and more specifically, where I can find the full rundown of all recommended servicing?

Just took my rig into a local semi specialized rover shop and got a quote for $650ish for the 105k mile service (would normally be $790 but I already paid for the full inspection (which is why i took it in). Im at 100k even so need to decide if i want to save the $140 --- and have them do it now.

The service they recommended seemed pretty weak --- air filters, oil change, tire rotation and basic fluid top off --- does that sound right to you all?

On another note, they gave Betsy a full bill of health with everything except the catalytic converter --- said that was causing the light ticking I was hearing --- so no need to do now but would be $2500 for parts and labor and if the bolts sheer during replacement, 1-4 hrs more or up to $450 more. Said that is with OEM cat as many aftermarket dont play nice.

Thoughts? Feedback?

Air filters, oil and filter will cost just over $100.
Checking fluids and tire rotation should take 30 min.
Add in another $20 of any fluids that actually need to be topped off.

I'd recommend spending the money on buying the stuff yourself, and a mityvac 7201. Oil change on the lr4 is the easiest and cleanest oil change I've ever done. Takes 10 minutes, 5 of which is waiting for oil to vacuum out.

Air filters require a few screws to be removed onto of the filter cover. Another 10 minutes.

Save the money from paying for this service and put it towards the next one, or a actual repair.

The ticking can be many things.
Exhaust leak? Someone recently posted of a broken exhaust manifold stud which caused a ticking.

Yea, I thought it was a little pricey for how little substantial work was being done. Was expecting 105k to have more technical items.

model year of your LR4?
dont disregard the diff, transfer case and trans fluid change at the 10yr mark.

second that. At 100k, do the fluids. Mightyvac is superb tool for all these. I open mine up and clean it out to accommodate trans fluid, then once more for the diff fluids.

At 105k spark plugs are scheduled to be replaced. An indy shop in San Francisco quoted me $800 just for the plugs. A regular service at 90k was $560 (I believe just the oil change is a bit over $200). If the $650 includes new plugs, that sounds like a good deal.

Otherwise, like others have said, invest $100 in a mighty-vac, and pay $70 in oil and filter every time you want to change the oil yourself. I changed my spark plugs myself about a month ago and found 8 LR iridium ones on eBay for $25. They are $170 at Atlantic British. It’s a pain but very doable and there are some helpful videos out there. I’m not the most mechanical person so it took me about 3-4 hrs.

Damn. $800.00 for plugs? It ain't a 5 hour job. I think it took me 1.5.

i agree with avslash. took me almost 2 hours in my driveway. and this was on of the first things i did to my LR4, with no shop manual.
even after factoring the cost of the plugs, they are price gouging by 3x what is should be.

I'm going to do my plugs in the next few days. For the 1.5 to 2 hour job, did you guys remove your air intakes and battery, or did you fish around all that stuff?
