Our 2010 LR4 HSE has reached the end of our journey together. On Sunday, at 245k miles, she finally skipped time due to loose chains (they had started making noise about 20k ago so I knew what was coming).

So my question is, what to do with her? Copart will give me $2,200 and tow it away, which seems like a good deal. I don't have the space to keep her around to part her out. Perhaps there is someone out there on Craigslist interested in rebuilding her? If you're in Northern CA and are interested, let me know.

As for another Rover? Hell ya - we upgraded to a RR HSE SCV8 and can't wait to put 200k+ miles on the new one!

Yes, original chains/guides/tensioners.

I did replace the crossover pipe and water pump at about 150k, injectors at about 200k, front air struts around 140k (both sides) and of course LCAs and many many front brake rotors/pads over the years.

She was driven hard with an average of 25k miles/year with oil changes every 10k or so, but definitely not religiously. The interior still has TONS of life in it, so I'm sad to see it go. It was our family workhorse.

Agreed. Also, >$2k for it and a free towing seems pretty fair and easy.

Agreed. $2.2k for this seems fairly good considering KBB would value it at $4 to $8k private party sale if it were running.

You took the right approach. Ignore the tensioners until they let go. At 120k miles I am only halfway there!

Oooo! I notice you've got the Continental TerrainContacts. How have you liked them? I want them so bad for mine, but the previous owners put a brand set of the 4x4 Contact (OEM tire) just before I bought it so there's tons of life left in those. I'm not swimming in cash enough to just throw perfectly good tires out.

Would I be able to buy the middle headrest off of you if we have the same interior color???

My car is missing it and it has been driving me nuts for over a year.

Not to start a part out.... but this part is easy haha.

I have indeed enjoyed the Conti TerrainContact ATs in mixed driving; mostly paved around town and long road trips but also some fun offroad outings that involved gravel/loose surface, water crossings, mud, mild snow, and beach driving. They aren't the most aggressive *looking* tire but they definitely have more presence than a straight street tire. For my needs they've been just about perfect. I wish the lug profile was a little more pronounced around the shoulder purely for looks, to be honest. But it's a cool tire. If I change them out once the tread is beat, I'd only move to something else because I like variety. I could also easily put another set of these on and be very happy.
