On a side note - what would the collective think is the fail rate on the coolant level sensors (miles or years)? Should that be on the list of crossover pipe bits since it's a $25 part?
The sensors work, but it doesn’t work properly even when they are brand new. Sometimes it detects when it has a slow leak and the level in the reservoir dips. Sometimes during a catastrophic loss it doesn’t trip the sensor for some reason. Then the coolant temp* sensor is a different story. It won’t sense the temp of fluid that isn’t there so the temp remains in the middle on the dash when in actuality the block is overheating. That is why people fry their engines when the crossover pipes go. Point of all this…these sensors are never* to be trusted unfortunately.

I believe some owners have fabricated their own replacement crossover pipes out of aluminum. I would focus more on this (crossover pipe) as the primary point of failure than the sensor suite or aftermarket sensors.

Replace the pipe and monitor; of course do not trust the gauges. We lost our Thermostatic Unit/Water Pump in our L322 5.0 NA V8 on a long road trip and there was never a blip on the TFT gauge.

yeah you're right....does anyone have a pic of a custom made aluminum front/rear crossover pipe?? Does such wizardry exist??

I wish I could find an example. It appears to be something one would have fabricated or possibly fabricate themselves.

Seems like an opportunity to make some money as well though perhaps the legal liability is too great.

well there should be a disclaimer, using this part releases the manufacturer of all liability and any defect or issues is the buyers problem.

The mythical AL crossover pipe has been discussed here for years. I have yet to ever see an actual example.

Has anybody installed one of these sensor kits? It would be great to have additional warning to avoid something catastrophic.

Going to be replacing cross-overs soon, and that seems like a good time to install the extra sensors.

Doing pump soon with a flush as preventative maintenance. I’ll add the sensor to the list! Crossovers done in the last couple years. Also on a replacement schedule.

I think I might pop one of these on as well. Every year or so I have to add ~300ml of coolant, which I know is probably nothing too serious but one of these alarms could be cheap insurance against an engine failure
