Well here I am again! I’ve been hearing a clunk/knock recently that’s starting to scare me a little bit. After I got my tires I got exited and decided to have some fun with her, which led to me accidentally hitting a jump at 40 Mph and throwing off the alignment and causing a little bit of play in the steering. That’s my guess on what triggered the problem but it could also be the shop that didn’t put everything back together right after doing the alignment when I got the new wheels on. But ever since then I have noticed this clunk/knock that occurs every time the road moves from slanted to level at slow speeds. It happens in my driveway when blacking my car into the garage and I can feel the knock in the brake pedal as well in the floor board (it’s very noticeable). You can also hear it. Here are two videos I took of the noise. In the one with the windows up you can hear 2 brief clunks. In the one with the windows down you can hear 2 smaller clunks and 1 louder one. If you have any idea on what this could let me know. (sway bar and LCA bushing’s we’re all done 5k miles ago)

i would check everything related to sway bars. the torsion when going up a slant/turning into a driveway is when sway bars are most stressed.
it be willing to bet one of the bushing mounts is damaged or loose.

i had this exact issue on my Audi. it ended up being a loose body under body stiffener, allowing the entire body to twist. was knocking, felt though the floor and the noise was traveling through the car. sometimes I would hear it in the pillars next to my ear.
i don't think the LR4 has such stiffeners, but if im wrong, worth checking.

It sounds like it would be something frame related due to the fact that I don’t feel it in the steering wheel. Also the sound is louder inside then it is on the out. Also it’s odd because it doesn’t happen on the way up the drive way it happens on slight changes from slanted to flat.

Driveshaft carrier bearing? It sounds rhythmic to me. If it's bad enough it may have enough slack where low speed movement would be more noticeable that high speed. Changing from horizontal to angled also changes the load on the transaxle. So, could be ujoints as well.

Interesting. Drive shafts and The transaxle are things I’m not very educated on. But I think it’s possible because it literally feels like something shifts when when on a slant or transferring weight from one side to another.

Hello

Hope you got this figured out? I am having a similar issue where i get an underbody clunk when turning hard or hitting a slant with one wheel first.

Changed ALL suspension components and still the clunk is there

Sway bar mount bushings, I just recently replaced them and the clunk went away. Although if you haven’t done the sway bar links or the LCAs then it could do that too

I changed the LCA bushes, sway bar bushes, sway bar links, tie rods, inner tie rods, front and rear shocks

And still the clunk is there.

Have you checked the ball joints?

On the rear of each frame rail - at the very end right behind the bumper, there are some loose swinging weights - you can see them if you just look under the rear bumper. Quite heavy. For resonance dampening or some such thing. Wondering if you are hearing those hit the bumper/frame when you do something quick/sudden that might get them swinging in just the right way.
