Update - he fortunately made it home with the new battery. Had it at the shop today and it was the alternator. They change this and the drive belts. Thanks gents! -

Update - the 3 restarted this morning after sitting for the last several hours overnight. He was able to drive it from the parking lot of the truck stop to his motel, about 3 blocks. All the warning lights came back on within a minute and he shut it off. Am I still correct in thinking it is... -

Faulty Remote replacement
No, they just mailed the remote part, without the blade (key part) which is why the dealer checks ID etc. The replacement the dealer sends has the remote and the key blade. My shop easily put the old key blade on the new remote and had the software to program the remote to the car. -

Turning rotors
I just took my 05 LR3 to Midas. Total was $230 without rotors for the rear axle. They also said the rotors cannot be machined but were in good shape. They used centex pads. Pads are free lifetime after this, just labor, for $100, I figured it was worth it. I changed all 4 sets last... -
