when driving, my dash lites will flash ; the M&S flashes, incline lite comes on,abs lite and service eng lite come on.. the trans goes to overdrive gear and locks there till i shut the car off and restart. i need a solution for this problem as land rover tells me it is the battery,,,,,new battery.thx

They may be right. Go to your local parts store and have the charging system checked, voltage should be between 13.6 and 14.4 volts.
Let me know what they find.

had the system checked,no load was 14.0, loaded was 13.68v. drain test 1.14A,battery test was at12.56v and 800 cca,,everything looks normal..should the mode switch be in the manual or sport position. thx Doug

So, if the cable are clean and tight then, wait and see if it comes back. You can drive in normal or sport mode, only difference are the shift points and neither should cause this.
If it happens again and you get a check engine light, go straight to a parts store, leave the engine running and get the 4 digit fault code and then get back to us.
