I am trying to replace the driver's rear hub on my 2000 disco 2. I can't seem to release the stake all the way in the hub nut. Does anyone have any ideas on how to release it? I have already broken 1 breaker bar, and I only have 1 more right now. Thanks in advance for you any info you might have....

Not sure what you mean, the stake nut should just come right out.

I would head down to your hardware store and get an electric impact wrench and some PB Blaster and shoot it a few times. When I did mine I held the impact on there for around 5 minutes before it finally broke free. I remember thinking to myself there is no way I would have gotten that off with MY hand tools.

The stake nut is pushed in on one side into a cutout in what i believe is the axle. I pushed it back out as far as I could, but it still won't budge. I think that's what is holding the nut from moving, unless I misunderstand how it's on there.....

Thats it. I used a chisel and a hammer then what I mentioned earlier.

I totally appreciate the help basstard440....I chiseled the stake out, and then put the impact on it. It's been about an hour and it still won't come out. I hate to sound like an idiot, but am I missing something? This thing won't budge.....

2008 Land Rover/Range Rover

Hello my name is JD Scott I have a 2008 Land Rover/Range Rover and I'm trying to remove the rear hub. I took the hub nut off and tried to pull the hub off with a puller. It came half way off and stopped. It apperes like I'm trying to pull the whole axle assembley off. I'm confused and need help or guaidence on the proper way of removing the old hub and installing the new one.

Thank You:
