Over heated. personal mechanic tried to fix but said I need complete head gasket repair. Second opinion needed and if that IS the case would like to know if buying a used motor would more cost effective.

You could try Beach Cities Rover in Redondo - 310-921-8393 & beachcitiesrover.com

I believe the owner is an ex-LR service manager at South Bay LR.

I’d have a hard time believing that swapping a motor vs a head gasket would be cheaper. How many miles and what’s the source of the overheat? Crossover pipe fail?

He might actually need a motor. AL blocks are not real tolerant of overheating.

But if not, yes, I agree it has to be cheaper to swap a head gasket than dropping in another engine.

Another LS candidate, perhaps...

Original Jaguar and Land Rover in Covina. I’ve been there a few times.
