I swapped out my radio unit that died with 1 that I purchased on EBay. I contacted the local dealer and gave him the VIN# of the truck it was pulled from for a code. The dealer gave me a '5' digit number instead of the usual 4 to enter. I get the 4 dashes and then 'Code In' but when I enter the 4th digit it goes back to the 4 dashes which I believe means it's the wrong code. Does anyone have any suggestions or options to correct this?
Is there a way to make a Discovery Radio work in a Range Rover? Both units are exactly the same in every way from model#, jacks, etc. except that the Discovery unit takes a 5 digit code and the RR a 4 digit code. I have the 5 but my car sees that it wants a 4. The screen asks for 4 digits (4 dashes) but the code I have from the previous VIN is 5 digits. Thanks for any help.
