when i start my 97 range rover, i notice that after a few minutes, a open book looking icon followed by an exclamation appears in the panel that shows the temperature for the heat and a/c... what is this icon indicating,is the engine overheating, no engine light comes on, secondly, i don't know how to turn the heat, a/c on and off, where are the controls to turn it off, i'm familiar with the arrow buttons on both sides of the temp. panel, but how do you turn the heat on and off? Finally, my rover idles very high in park, but when it's put in gear it settles down and runs fine... what's causing this..... finally, on the speedometer it says maximum speed 30 mph, i am able to drive past 30 mph, but on a hill it sems to be limited to just 30 mphwhy is this and how can the above issues i mentioned be addressed? Thanks for your help in these matters!!!

First the book, means there is something wrong with the heat/ac unit and you need to seek a dealer or repair shop.

High idle, could be anything from a clogged fuel filter to a dirty MAF sensor. Having some form of maintenance history would help a lot.

sounds like you need an owner manual... download the Rave.zip it includes the owners manual and repair manual http://www.landroverresource.com/

normally a max speed is a setting, or you have a ride hight issue with the EAS.

Hey There,

I dont know if this will help but I thought there was something wrong with my engine when my display started to read maximum speed 20 mph and would beep whenever I reached 20 mph. I found out later that I had inadvertently set the speed limit with the little button on the right hand blinker arm.

press the AC off button, then turn the blower control *** to the left as if you were turning the blower speed down, that will turn it off...... Unless your's is any like mine, in which case it still tends to blow sometimes, even if I have it off..... Joey would know more, he's a genius!
