I would consider myself knowledge on tire info as far as load ranges and sizing goes. I have ordered a set of LT275/55r20 KO2’s to replace my overloaded passenger 275/55 Duratracs. They haven’t been mounted yet; thus can be swapped for another tire. Doing some last minute browsing before mounting this week and I’ve stumbled across the Nitto EXO Grappler.

The EXO is also a 275/55. It also comes in a 10ply. It measures 32.13”, 18 tread depth. The KO2’s are an 8ply at 31.9”, 15 tread depth. I’ve had a set of Terra’s on my Suburban. My question to anyone with knowledge on the EXO or insight on going 8ply v 10ply, 32” v 31.9.. what would you prefer or encourage? I know the KO2 has a great life and many run this tire. The EXO looks awesome, but not enough info on it.

No idea but in general Nitto makes some quality oddball stuff. Owned by Toyo tires I believe., they are not 2nd grade Chinese garbage.

I have Nitto Terra Grapplers G2 265/50/R20. 5000 miles in and tread depth is down to 6/32 (from 13/32 brand new);normal city/highway driving, no off-road use. I talked to a tire guy who said he had to return several Nittos due to tread wear issues.

You've gone through over 50% of the tires in less than 5k miles...
There has to be other factors here. I got over 45K out of a set on an LR3.

Is the wear even? or worn oddly in certain areas?

I have the exo grappler in a 265/65/18. They are much more aggressive than the terra grappler. They are noisier but not bad. I have only about 1000 miles on the so I don’t know about longevity. The reason I bought them was about $300 in savings between the KO2 and the exo grappler, also the tread depth and the fact that it is closer to a mud terrain.

I’m looking into the EXO in 275/55 and the Toyo MT. The issue I’m having is the KO2 measures 31.9” and the MT measures 32.1”. Rubbing is not something I’m looking forward to bumping to the 32” size..
