basically ill drive and say i have a heater on or AC and im guessing electrical power starts getting real low. My spedo is waving like crazy , my rpm gauge doesnt even work , my lights dim, oh yeah and its like the battey is dead. it wont start up. im pretty sure its the alternator blown to hell but i just want to make sure its nothing in between before i go shell out 200 bucks for a new one.

Drive down to your local auto parts store (don't use any extra items like A/C, heat, radio, lights....) have them test the Alternator and the battery.

Or if you have a volt meter, check batter before you start the Disco, then check voltage after you start the vehicle... if voltage is showing around 12 -13 prior to start, at least the battery sounds good, if showing around 14 volts after start, then the alternator at least sounds like it is working, but I would still get it load tested.

definately the alternator...get the Bosch...it has its own 2 year warrantee...with TOWING reimbursement! I dropped on in and it went bad right away (2 months) and I got my $50 bucks back on the tow. Double check and see if they still do. Mine was 2 years ago
