Can a lightning strike make my LR4 not start?

This past weekend a crazy thunderstorm passed over my house. Was right on top of us. Quite the show with no interval between the lightning flashes and the thunder clap.

That morning, my electric garage doors would not work. The light on the motor was on. Pressing the up/down button did nothing. Unplugging and plugging back in the motors corrected that problem.

My 2010 LR4 HSE LUX, parked outside, would not start. Battery fine, full of gas, no known issues, etc. Would not even turn over. No smart key error messages.

Does anyone know/think that lightning could have fried something in my engine?

If your truck was hit, you better get in touch with your insurance company.

Absolutely, even if it was not a direct hit. Lightning hit the chimney on the house across the street. Bricks thrown all over their yard and nearly every electrical item in their house was destroyed. The strike then traveled about 100 yards underground and took out our garage door openers, sprinkler system, cable boxes, home alarm and a few appliances. As noted, call your insurance company.
