My guess, and only a guess, its that they now have more data points to validate the lower viscocity and figured out that it will work. Higher centistokes would hold more pressure, and maybe the ability for the case to properly work could be impaired? And that transfer case never operates at 100C, but probably the cooler temps where the different in resistance is higher for RedLine.

Its been a long time since I worked in tribology stuff, but I did teach fluid dynamics in grad school before wikipedia existed to give us bad info
