We just bought this truck 3 weeks ago. 04 discovery se7.
Started running rough and then the check engine light came on. checked oil and was very low, almost none. I put oil in and light is still on and when it starts running rough the check engine light blinks and then when it runs normal it just stays on.
I do not have a manuel with it.

Any help you can give me

Thank you
Paula

First a flashing CEL is bad... normally a shut the vehicle off and park kind of issue.

Second you will need to use an OBDII scanner to read the codes, or stop by your local auto parts store and they will normally read the codes for free.

Need more info on your Disco to help more (other than just getting the codes, having the codes will help 90%), mileage, last tune up and what was done during the tune up.

Type of fuel you use regular, mid-grade, premium?

I took it to Autozone and it said 1 misfire in cylinder and to change sparkplugs and wires.
It has 67,000 miles. I can't really tell you when it had a tuneup as i bought it from a used car dealer.
I usually put regular gas in it but sometimes I put in midgrade.

Do you reccomend changing the sparkplugs and wires ourselves or is it something that ha to be done at the dealer?

Thank you very much for your help

I would start with changing plugs and wires (wires are a little hard to get to the coils in the back of the engine, but it can be done at home - Plugs Champion Platinums only)

Then I would also take the time and change all the fluids:

Engine oil, transfer case, transmission, both diffs (this will be worth it later)

I am going to show this to my husband and see if he thinks he can do it. I did call Land rover to see how much it would cost there and they quoted me 800.00.

Any mechanic can do this, you do not have to go to a LR dealer to have this done... just make sure you use Champion Platinum plugs (it will save issues later)
