Yes, I would push for the OEM PTI since it offers better integration with the LR3 than an aftermarket kit. As Grommet says- they added the phone paddles on the right side of the steering wheel as part of the kit. Upon pressing the green paddle, the system listens for me to say "phone"-repeats "phone" to me and I say "dial number" and the system responds "number please." No special setup was required beyond what my dealer did to install it.

So it sounds like I may be dealing with either a green parts department at my dealer, which is only a few months old. Or my sales manager has decided its too expensive for him to include in the package price he gave me. Anyone know if there woudl be a technical bulletin that I could get my hands on to fax over and say "hey, good news, it is possible with my 05 SE!" I really like the idea of having the paddles and not some 3rd part switcher on the dash.

The part number for the dealer PTI "kit" is: VUB501151. I'm guessing they are very green, may not even know it exist... so they have never performed the install.

Any service department will have access to the "telephone kit" installation information. It's probably a few hours of labor.

It was orderable at the very end of '05, so it's rare. You can get the "dealer install" PTI kit installed, but it's not as functional. It must be mentioned earlier in this thread; either that, or search. It'll be far more expensive than the factory option, too, due to labor.

What do you mean by not very functional?
My dealer is asking in the neighborhood of $1200 to $1500. We shouldn't be asked to spend that kind of money for a speaker phone. I think most of our newer phones already have a pretty good speaker phone built-in. Could you provide some detail in what does this PT1 do?

BTW, I have took a 12/31/2004 deliery on an HSE, so there's no bluetooth.

You get Bluetooth connectivity, you can store and dial voice tags with numbers in the LR3 voice system, answer/drop calls with the streering wheel buttons... and, obviously, hear the audio over the stereo. That's it.

With "factory" PTI, you gain being able to dial phone numbers using the keypad... use search for more coverage on this.

So what is the purpose of the DialPad???
there are only 6 CD's to change, and then what's the purpose of * and # buttons??? and how much is the OEM kit?

In radio mode, the numbers on the keypad are also your presets. The * and # keys are also < and > for flipping between folders on CD-ROMs containing MP3 audio content.

You need both the PTI Install Kit (list ~$250) and the control assembly (list ~$180). I think in some cases you may need a voice control module, for additional cost. (But I'm not sure anymore.) So, it's around ~$430 (if nothing else is needed.) Installation cost will depend on your service department's labor rates.

Subject: Bluetooth Accessory Personal Telephone Integration Kit
Land Rover is pleased to announce the introduction of the retailer installed accessory
Bluetooth phone integration system. Installation time is approximately 2.5 hours. One
installation kit and one language control unit are required for installation and will fit all
LR3s from our November 2004 launch and all Range Rover Sports.
This system will allow a customer to use one of the approved handsets, hands free in the
vehicle. When a call is placed / received the audio system is muted and the call can be
heard through the vehicle speakers. The steering wheel switch activates the voice control
for selecting name tags or for dialing a phone number. 40 name tags can be stored.
This system does not have any ability for controls through the radio. Also, no cradle
is available for this system. This system is voice operated only and Bluetooth only.

While Bluetooth technology is a global standard having many different Bluetooth profiles,
not all cell phone manufacturers choose the same profiles in their devices. It is possible
for a customer to have a BT phone but not have a compatible profile that allows the phone
to operate with the vehicle. Land Rover BT system uses HFP1.0 (Hands free Profile).
However, the software that is delivered in the mobile phone, which also uses HFP1.0, may
have had errors introduced by new software releases and as such cannot be guaranteed
by Land Rover to work with the vehicle system. See list below of currently validated
phones.

It is a huge cut and paste. Sorry if it is messy, I did not include the phone list, as it has been updated since and has been posted before.

I have a Parrott CK3000 in my SE and it works great. I've got a Blackberry 7520 which doesn't have a wide range of BT options on it but if your phone is smart enough you can have voice dialing, audible caller ID, etc. Mine was about $350 installed and I'm very happy with it. Depending on your phone the Parrott is capable of a lot, I've got a Blackberry 7520 and am very happy with my system.

Here's a pic of mine:

the BT interface is the green/red phone buttom on the top right of the headunit. You can stick the interface anywhere. The microphone is mounted behind the rearview mirror and the front speaks mute the stereo and become the phone speakers.

Here's Parrott's site:

Could you advise how you connect the Parrot to your LT3. I have purchased the Parrot 3200, and have taken out the radio and Nav screen. With that said, the plugs supplied by Parrot are different than the ones on LR3. I prefer to keep the original wiring if at all possible. Therefore could you please provide instruction as to which wire in the harness is the mute, which one is the speaker, etc.

Thank you in advance.
