My 2016 LR4 SC 3.0 after replaced thermostat and upgrade heater cross pipe. Temperature stay at 221 to 223 on idle half hour, but the lower hose stay cool at 104! Is it normal?

The differential is normal. The lower hose is supposed to stay a lot cooler than the upper hose because it’s the cool side of the system - coming out of the radiator.

As for temps, at 221-223 the t-stat is not quite fully open, so you still have a little cooling capacity left. I would expect your fan to be running pretty hard at that point while idling since you don’t have the airflow from driving - though not absolutely certain. Is the fan running pretty hard? I’d keep an eye on the temps for a while just to make sure you don’t spike up while driving, but I think you’re probably okay.

What conditions are you running in to get that hot?

I have the V8, so slightly different but the happy temp is about 200 F during summer here in Arizona. Ambient temps of about 110 and its still running that temp. If I'm towing or driving it on the harder side the oil and coolant will start heating up a bit to 220 or so. Haven't seen anything hotter.

@strally, @f1racer328: Please refer to post 9. The V8 and V6 engines operate at different temps.

@strally: Perfectly normal, mine is the same. Please read my post above. I’ve also got a thread on this with more information if you want to search. My temps are all over the place between 205-226.

From @Rover Range:
“On the V6: The thermostat begins to open at 208-215 °F and is fully open at 226 °F.
The V8: The thermostat begins to open at 190 - 194 °F and is fully open at 216 °F.”
