CPO or Dealer Extended Warranty

My wife and I will be in the market for a SUV in the near future. We have been looking at the MB GLS, Infiniti QX80 and Escalades. My favorite car has always been the Range Rover, and I have the itch to finally bit the bullet and buy a used one. We have looked at several used 16' and 17' at local Land Rover Dealers, as well as CPO's. Our price point is no more than 55k, so that being said, we have found more used than CPO's in that price point. I definitely want a warranty. So my question is, should I pay more for a low mileage CPO like a 16' and have roughly 3.5 years left on the warranty; or purchase a 17' for a bit cheaper with comparable mileage, and purchase an extended warranty?

It looks like you discovered the obvious, the RR is a notch up from all of those, even the GLS, something about British refinement that is just different than the others.

I think it is semantics - you have price point and you will likely max it out (it's human nature to get the most we can). If you have a 16 and 17 with warranties for the same price then you likely have a different trim RR to account for the difference. There will not be any glaring differences between model 15-16-17 model years (some minor entertainment system upgrades, terrain response updates, etc) - so I would focus on features and colors you like and get something you and/or your wife feel good about. Lucky for you VA is probably the cheapest place in the country to get a used RR - must be the DC area or something that drives prices down, but the best values I see are usually in VA.
