Factory towing setup

Is it me!? I have a history of towing with all sorts of military vehicles.

I followed the specs in the manual.
Performed the factory setup. And I am amazed that this setup can handle a towing capacity of tongue weight of 770 lbs and towing weight of 7700 lbs.

Anyone here done it?

I think it can handle more with a class 4 hitch. It has a 4,000 lbs rear-end. I'm thinking about getting the front/rear weighed and using the rear difference from 4k as how much I weight I can load as well as max tongue weight. It will probably be more than 770 lbs but not sure about rims and tires. BFG KO2 class E 10-ply side wall would suffice. The tongue weight is the kicker on RV trailers, been looking at RV's and the heavier trailers are the better quality so I'd like to put 1,200 lbs on a class 4 hitch and see how it does. I'll have plenty of oil on-hand for the grades.

A loaded 25’ airstream fits in nicely. But a V6SC…

There is a place in Canada that supposedly performs tunes. They quote big power gains but they were all on the SC engines. They didn't mention heat soak though so running an RV up a grade with one of their tunes might be an experiment. I'd keep it stock and be patient with it, give it plenty of RPM's and check the oil often. 25' might be long for windy days but I've never tried it. I think the air suspension would be kick ass. Hitch up and go.

There was someone on here talking about a weight distribution hitch. I read those can be a problem to the compressor if not done right. Honestly it sounds like a pita but with 25' it might be worth looking into but the shocker is the Defender payload capacity for the V8 is peanuts, ~890 lbs. So sad. It seems Bronco built a tough truck SUV. I'm curious about it but I'd never buy one. I think your V6 has more power then the new Ford Bronco but not the Raptor. The Raptor seems overpriced for the power. Look at the RAM V6, over 500 HP. RAM also has the 700 HP variant engines factory stock. Those would be fun to tow with.
