So I am replacing the p/s pump and getting the fan off is problematic. I removed the three bolts that I thought held the fan on. As it turns out it only holds on the pully. So now the belt is off and the pully is loose. So in order to keep the fan from turning while I used a big cresent on the fan I threaded a longer bolt into the BACK of the water pump and turned it until it hit the boss on the pump and the fan came right off. It all would have been easier with the belt on but this works great too.

Interesting, I just bought a neck tool at a bicycle shop for $10 and use a rubber mallet and it comes off with one whack.
