Tribe,

An update on this job from my side.

So I went ahead and ordered “Fuel Sender and Hanger Assembly” - Part Number: LR042974 (Supersession(s): LR015937) from the Team at Land Rover Palm Beach.

They were super helpful and did a great job boxing everything up and sending it out. Photos below of the box and the part number ~

But when I received the box, I thought...that is strange: why this big box for a little part (float with sensor)?

The answer (of course): I actually ordered the wrong part.

In the diagram attached previously which has the component break down, you can see the inclusive box with 9A760 (which includes the sub-part 9262A).

However, those components are not the part I thought I bought (the Rear Fuel Level Sensor). These parts are actually what amounts to the front level sensor (there are two float sensors, one in the front here and one which attaches to the pump in the rear of the tank).

Photographs of the components I purchased ("Fuel Sender and Hanger Assembly") which should just be called the "Front Fuel Level Sensor" or something. What you are looking at in the photographs attached below include a yellow plastic rail to keep everything together (i.e. the "Hanger Assembly"), a plastic tube which connects to the pump and has a fuel up-take (suction) for the front of the tank, and the front float sensor assembly.

So I have now gone and actually purchased the "Rear Fuel Level Sensor" from Land Rover Palm Beach (LR042971 at $173.23 and nomenclature: "Fuel. Sending. Unit.")

This is 9202B as drawn on the diagram attached above.

I will keep the parts I mistakenly ordered and replace those as well - who knows which of these has gone bad and we could probably just go ahead and replace the front sensor and plastic pipes in the tank.

I will follow up with everyone once we get this done; I am unsure how to get that thing out of the front of the fuel tank but we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

I hope that helps - and more to follow. Welcome thoughts, knowledge, and experience!

The parts have arrived and now that we have both the "front" and "rear" level sensors / floats...we are ready to resolve this problem of fuel gauge reading zero.

Additionally, while I never had error codes before, I am now have a DTC (which is new) with my GAP IID Tool: "PCM. P0461-29 (68). Fuel Level Sensor A. Circuit Range / Performance – General Signal Failure. Signal is Invalid."

I assume this means there is a fault with one of those level sensors?

Update -

Dropped the tank - swapped out both of the sensor units with floats.

Cleared the DTC's with the IID Tool and no more codes - fuel gauge reading correctly (first time in like 4 months)!

Hurray!
