MP3 of sound added below.
Did an injector replacement on a 2010 engine, mileage unknown. Immediately after injector swap, when engine gets to temp, a high pitched whir/siren is noticeable. The pitch changes slightly between 1000-2000 rpm but I can't hear it change much beyond that. At engine shut down, it's a VERY loud and noticeable siren/wail sound that persists until the all components have stopped spinning completely. It seem louder after engine shutdown. Sound is worst when engine at full temp. No sound when engine is cold. No codes, vibration, or anything funky. It drives like normal. I did bleed the PS pump after the swap caue the reservoir fell over, but the sound persists with serpentine belt off, so I don't think it's PS pump or anything on the belt. Sounds like sound is driver's side, low.
What I've done:
1. Bled PS pump.
2. Removed serpentine belt and and fan and ran engine. Sound seems to be coming from inside engine/trans or below.
3. Used mechanic's stethoscope and listened to timing chains and other parts of engine but don't notice it there.
Very odd that it would start immediately after injector swap, def was NOT doing it prior. I did have to unscrew engine/trans underside protection to retrieve a dropped bolt during swap. Next I will get under the truck when it's running to try to find something on underside.
Any ideas?
