Hi LR friends! What a great site! I'm hoping you can help!

I loved my '04 HSE so much I bought a other in '08. Living in California we have to use bluetooth on 07/01/08. My cell did not display the phonebook, so I bought a new Razor V3 because the LR website stated it was compatible and phonebook ready.

I'm really frustrated because neither the website or dealer anwer my phonebook problem. Not having the phonebook means I have to manually type in phone numbers while driving and this is more dangerous than just using the phone.

My Razor V3 software is R3442A.G.OE.43.OAR. The software listed on the LR site is an older version.

Ideas and answers welcome! Thanks-Francine (how do I get the smilies to work in this note?!)

Hi Francine,

Welcome!

My razr type Sanyo Katana 2 syncs to the bluetooth.. It is an issue having to input each number. However, I simply connect to the BT then dial through my phone... so I'm using it strictly for talking purposes... not for phone storage.

Your phone should do the same at least. Your LR owners manual will have the code required to add to your phone.

Good luck

I have some Verizon LG phone. At least once a week I have to pair it with the LR3. Not sure why they repeatedly break-up with each other. Anyway, I also use the phone book memory in my phone to do the dialing, not the LR3 phone pad.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe the only automagical way to get your Phonebook into the system is by physically pairing the phone with the connector, not over bluetooth. This was what I was told when I inquired about the same issue.

My understanding concurs with CoMclovin (i.e., Heatmeister).

My only issue is that my Sanyo military-spec phone is always "mating" with the LR3 if I come anywhere within 25 feet of it. doing yard work. Passing my wife in opposite directions while I'm in my car etc..

The 2008 should have support for Phonebook transfer via OBEX/Bluetooth. It's fairly limited, though... and I'm sure it won't work for every device.

The flaw? If your phonebook has nested phone numbers (single name w/ work, home, etc.)... they'll all be listed as identical name entries. (Likely a limitation of the protocol used.)

Good luck figuring out which one is the one you want on that tiny useless LCD. :) Personally, I don't see it being any less dangerous than screwing with the phone book on the phone itself. It probably made more sense with the obsolete physical dock, where you couldn't see/use the phone directly.

If you have different names for each number, like Bob Work, Bob Home, Bob Cell... it works better, FYI.

When starting up the car with a paired phone, on most Motorola phones... you should probably see a prompt on your phone when the Bluetooth connects asking if you want to allow the transfer of the phone book. (It has to do this every time.) Obviously, answer yes...

For "safe" calling, program voice name tags in the car's phone directory memory for your most used numbers. This way you don't need to fiddle with anything other than the steering wheel paddle and saying "Phone Dial Name"... or, without a recorded name, "Phone Dial Number".

I have Verizon, and use a Treo 700wx. My bluetooth connection never needs to be redone, and my entire phonebook transfers over after connecting. I simply hit the green phone button, then scroll the list with the right knob. It lists all numbers, including work, home, mobile, and the name and number show on both instrument panel and radio display when someone calls. I use a program on the phone called Jetware mobile. It just works. No hassles, no complaints. This will work with any windows mobile pda phone. Let me know if you want the website and more information.

One other thing...I have learned that the quality is worse if you raise your voice while talking. If you talk in natural tones, no raised voice, the caller can hear you clearly and you'll be amazed at how much easier it is to be heard.

Happy motoring!

My phonebook is comes up too. But my phone book is rather large and all of my entries do not come up. Does this software that you speak of allow you to use your complete phone book? If so I'm interested.

The PTI phonebook can't handle more than ~200 numbers/names, if I remember correctly... it's not a limit on the phone side.
