LR3 engine shut off

Driving home today and as I was coming to a stop engine shut off, second time this has happened. I am able to restart, and take off like nothing has happened. In another incident felt like it was going do die again and proceeded to give it gas, there was a lag, like it didn't respond to the gas right away, but it didn't die on me. Someon told me that it could the the diode on coil pack is failing. Called the dealer, they said it looks lie the Mass air flow center. Of course not cheap.

Both kind of sound like possibilities. Is it throwing a code?

no, no code was shown at the time it shut off, the service engine light came on after the engine died.
