I feel your pain TrinidadLR4. I have always loved the Stormer wheels, so over the weekend I installed them with what I knew was an outrageous size 295/55/20. After all Lucky8 is now rolling on 35s. I knew it would require a lot of cutting, but damn it looks good. I used the gap tool to adjust 20mm up. No rubbing around town, slight rubbing in parking lot maneuvers, so I'll have to trim the front bumper a bit more or move to a winch bumper. My goal is to have it drivable in normal access mode.

For those of you who mounted 18 inch rims with spacers, will 1 inch spacers give enough clearance? Are 1.25 needed? Did you have to modify your brakes to fit them with spacers? I’ve heard that filing down pars of the brake calipers is necessary?

Scott Brady, who pioneered the spacer and LR3 wheel idea, said that 1.25" spacers are needed. With 1", you'll have to grind the calipers a little bit.

Some still have to grind the calipers a little with the 1.25" spacers, though.

I’m running 30mm and had to grind the caliper fins down about 1mm. I had hoped to avoid doing so.

Thanks gents!
Not sure how I feel about “grinding” anything.... brakes, frame horns, etc.
Let alone the complications with mounting an oversized spare...

Yep, that’s why I did 265/60R18. My fully inflated spare sits perfectly in the underside spare wheel compartment. My understanding is that most 265/65/18s need to be partially deflated to fit and anything bigger just doesn’t fit. Then you’re into $2K-$3K for a rear bumper and swing away tire carrier.

No, my 265/65/18 spare fit fine fully inflated.

Did not go in without removing trailer hitch, but once it was in, trailer hitch went back on without issue.

I get if people don't want to 'grind' anything but in my case, the frame horn was a minor 'grind' and I did it just because there was some minor rubbing at full lock - still driveable. I had never done any kind of mod like this but a little shaving of the frame horns was not a big deal.

Curious what kind of tires you're running? I have 265/65/18, and I had to pull it down to maybe 5 PSI to wedge it in there...

This looks great. Also with those wheels I think the grey fender trim looks better than it would if it were painted.
