I tried the fcperero pads that are said to be the same compound as Land Rover brand, but the mold for the material different so the surface area contact is different. The compound looked the same. But what I found was they squeaked even with a **** load of permatex stop squeak. When it got hot (115F+) and in stop n' go traffic (summer Vegas metro area), they were squeaking forward and reverse.

I put the Land Rover pads on, they squeaked then I put permatex on the backings and that shut them up permanently. 122F+ in the shade and its still fine. A squeak here and there but nothing consistant and I don't hear them. Its been about a year now, but I need to change the rear rotors. They were stuck on the hub.

Mid-July Update:

First, We have installed the new rotors and pads. I purchased the EBC kit from Atlantic British:

EBC Performance Brake Rebuild Kit, Front And Rear, 3GD Series Sport Brake Rotors And Greenstuff Pads With Wear Sensors For Land Rover LR4

Those work excellent and there is definitely a noticeable difference. There are a quite a few threads out there on this topic (See Post #21) but I can testify that they do make a measurable difference and feel much better. I haven't been off-roading with them yet, but in the street and with a lot of water / rain and whatnot, they are working great.

Second, we ran into an issue installing the rear stainless steel brake lines. There are two of the flexible lines and so we were going to put both on. However, there are those solid steel lines which have corroded and I ordered replacements from Land Rover Palm Beach. They did a great job packing everything up and I have now received the new lines - photos attached.

We will be doing the rest of the brake job, which includes the install of these brake lines and hoses, soon.

Finally, there is the unfinished business of fabricating some small steel brackets which will help keep the stainless steel hoses in the proper places (in their routing along the knuckle and in the wheel well).

Hope this helps and certainly welcome any good ides and insights!
