Went to see it in real life at the LA auto show this past Saturday. Super disappointed for various reasons.

I asked one of those beautiful models on the floor that if I could speak to someone from the management team present here etc., and she introduced me to a product specialist along with a couple of management suits and then I had a really long chat with these three fellows together at the same time in a group meeting type atmosphere. Would love to share our exchange which I felt was very productive in some ways, and a bit informative as well, but I am in a bit of a rush right now so I will post here later.

And Umbertop, very nice pics indeed. Thanks for taking the time to snap em.

WOW! If that is not a teaser I don't know what is!

Be curious to hear your postive/negative thoughts after seeing the vehicle, and what the suits told you. ;)

(Also, a picture of the model wouldn't hurt your post. We can ask...)

haha @ "(Also, a picture of the model wouldn't hurt your post. We can ask...)"

Ahem, a bit outside the scope of this forum (and certainly at the possible expense of getting kicked out of here hence losing my ten years old forum membership, all depending on the coolness levels of the moderator(s) here :)), she was from NY, has been in this trade for a bit, and we chatted for a good bit in general before I got escorted by her to the suits. I must have done something right or made an impression without even knowing, ha.

But nuff about her, lets talk about the conversation with the suits, oh wait, I still got to go thru these documents for which I took the day off today. Sorry, Todd, you r gonna have to wait a bit :)

Thanks for the pics umbertob. Will be interested to see if the brakes have been redesigned for longer life. Soccer moms won't pay 1800 for a brake change every 25k on the minivan

What's YOUR LR3/4 weigh? Mine was 7400 lbs last week with nothing on the roof. My rotors went on roughly 70,000 miles ago.

Dump of photos of the new Disco I took at the L.A. Auto Show last night.

Just got around to flipping through the photos; thanks for posting. I personally didn't mind the back end of the D5 in your shots. I had to laugh at those who threw shade on the "square block" rear end. Anyone looked at the rear of our LR4s lately?? :D:D

@umbertob how was the roominess when you were sitting inside it?

I like how open the LR3/LR4 feels inside due to the high ceiling. It actually seems bigger than it is due to the height (you forget how narrow it is compared to a Tahoe, for instance). However, it isn't clear to me if the new roof-line of the truck changes the feel inside. Was hoping it doesn't have that cramped feeling of the RRS.

Front seat position was very familiar to me... It does feel like a LR4 from behind the wheel, same visibility all around, same size steering wheel, same legroom and generous headroom. The center console may be a little bit higher than in the LR4's (the refrigerated well under the center arm rest is substantially deeper), but overall you will feel right at home. I'm afraid I don't sit in the back seat of my LR4 much - I wonder if I ever sat back there, actually... So I can't really give you an informed opinion. I find that legroom on the LR4 is lacking for second row passengers, if you are like me and push the driver and front passenger seats all the way back. The new Disco seemed quite a bit more spacious. There is still plenty of headroom, the cushions are deep and comfy, and you still sit a couple of inches higher than the front driver and passenger for that "stadium seating" feeling. Also, unlike the LR4, the 2nd row seats on the Disco can slide back and forth several inches with a manual adjustment lever under the seats, and the seatbacks do recline back quite a bit. Overall I think 2nd row passenger would be much happier in the new Disco, even the center seat seemed plenty comfy despite the hidden cupholder on the folding arm rest. Access to the third row may be easier on the old LR4 though, I couldn't find a way to fold and "tumble" the second row seats forward like in the LR4, so getting back there may be more of a chore on the new Disco.

I am curious about this too. I saw it at the auto show and was only able to sit inside for a few seconds and it felt completely different than my LR4. It felt so much like a new Range Rover Sport inside, but with a bit more room. I will say the visibility is nothing compared to the current LR4. It just felt so much smaller to me, but I may be bias.

Wow, this makes me feel better. I really only had a second and the car was so occupied with people. I actually really liked the interior, it was almost a step up and felt so much like a RRS. THANK YOU so much for this description.

LOL. I guess you will have to sit in one and judge for yourself, as my and Finlay's opinions are diametrically opposed... :)

I would go with your opinion way over mine! Like I said, I had so little time to actually take it all in, then again, it had been a few weeks since I drove my LR4.
