After a long drive to camp and then travelling remote bush roads and trails for 5 days the SES light stayed off the entire time. The diagnosis was bang on and the code reader is clean. Gas consumption even went down. 
The fishing was great
and I returned to Tornado warnings and later found out that earlier in the week one had touched down in western Ontario.
