Navigation Compas Direction Question

Hi all. I just got my HSE7 and I love it. I am going to write a long review in the coming days, but I have a quick question. In the manual, it says that when you hit the icon in the upper left of the nav screen (the one that shows compas direction) it will change between an arrow which points to north, or the direction you are heading (N, NE, etc). I do that, but I can never get the letters, I always get the arrow which never changes.

When you hit that button, aren't you changing between having the map display N up vs. Vehicle direction up?

Yeah, but mine never changes

Are you in 3d mode? You have to be in 2d mode for that button to work.
