I'd take matte too, like military green.
Naturally aspirated is no turbo/supercharger.

"Naturally aspirated" means that is does not have forced air into the fuel system (i.e., a Turbo Charger).

Some of the interior "features" came from the LR2. The "key" and start button drive me nuts on my wife's LR2, and I always have trouble finding the cup holders at the back.

When I was looking for what became my first LR3, the Toyota Land Cruiser was a real contender. Then I drove it and it felt just like the Navigator and Escalde creampuffs--they took the guts out of what was once a very capable vehicle. I don't think the LR4 is quite that dolled up, but that is what I thought when I looked at the pictures.

Reports from the field are that the start button on the new LR4 and RRS is part of a "real" keyless-go system, not the lame implementation first seen on the LR2, meaning that the key fob only needs to be in proximity of the car (you can keep it in your pocket) to open the doors and start the car.

As long as LR keeps improving the functional performance, I think the glitz is only going to help to sell more LR3-er-4's. From personal experience, my wife rejected our LR3 because it was too stark inside and the steering was too heavy for her. Ironically, I really like the rugged leather, impervious interior, and heavy steering, but all of you and myself are anomalies to the greater buying public. I'm happy to wait until 2012, to pick-up a CPOed prior soccer-mom 2010 LR4, and not feel so bad about the pinstripping and mountain goating I will inflict upon it.

Glad to see that Jeep is moving to rectify some of the huge mistakes they made with the current GC. I had a 2000 GC w/ V8 and the Offroad package, and really liked the truck despite its lack of ground clearance (SUV ala Mustang GT). Could not believe its replacement had less headroom, less back-seat leg room, but was significantly heavier.

We originally rejected the LR3 in 06, because of the stark interior, so ended up getting a RRS instead. But after our family size increased beyond the 5 seat capacity, we re-looked at the LR3 in 08, and with the updated lux package interior, we opted to go that route. Couldn't be happier. It is the perfect blend of form and function. I would leave the exterior alone, but keep going on interior upgrades, if I were them.

Doesn't seem logical to give it a whole new model name, when it still looks basically like the same car. They should have waited until a more major remodel to give it a new name. But I suppose this is just following the history of the Disco 1 and 2, which looked pretty much the same, and used lots of the same parts, but with the updates came a new number.

Same here, wife picked the Q7 over the LR3 in 2006. Q7 was awesome on the road but not that good in sand on a nearby drive-on beach. After getting the Q7 stuck, she revisited the LR3, saw the lux interior and now loves her LR3. No more problems on the beach either.

It could have been worse-I do not like the Pep Boys tail lights. I would still try to order as base a model as possible. The terrain response knobs are harder to get to, although sometimes the knobs/levers in the LR3 get bumped around when the wife is in the car and we have more "stuff" in the car when travelling. I am sure that, as well as the fact that people probably drink coffee more often than off-road, are the reasons why they were moved to the new spot.

I REALLY like this new terrain response feature...and wish there was some way to offer it on LR3s. Seems like a software upgrade as long as you could figure out what button to use...
"For soft sand – one of the most power-hungry surfaces – 'sand launch control' has now been introduced, which makes for noticeably easier drive-away. New, speed-dependent wheel-slip targets for the traction control system permit only very limited wheel-slip, helping to prevent the wheels digging down into the sand."

Todd, this is exactly what Sand Mode does now. It retards accelleration at start, and then after a certain speed, makes the throttle nice and crispy and response, while retarding DSC and TC.

i find the current Suspension toggle switch position to be perfect as I dont even have to look at it or look for it when i change the setting while going into a low ceiling parking lot or coming out of it, etc. The hand naturally goes to the right position to locate it. I dont think that may be the case for the new position. But i do agree that the current location for the switches are a bit more vulnerable to being thrown off accidentally...

Overall, the new dash board looks nice except that they stole the architectural symmetrical look from it which would have gone with the entire vehicle design.

The redesign had a lot or potential to make the dashboard like cockpit style which i really prefer as it goes with the character of the truck. The new design and its slanting angle look fine, if only they had kept everything nicely symmetrical in place. Think the pre 2002 range rover. The 2001 range rover dash board still looks awesome imho.

I'm trying to decide if it's a stearing wheel or a tv remote. I love buttons, but I think its a little overboard, and I can't belive that they still haven't changed the airbag. Don't know about anyone else but my rover never goes in the garage it sets in the driveway, and Land Rover has replaced 2 airbags under warranty due to the sun causing the top of the bag to bend up.
