So oil is weeping from around one of the bolts on the oil level sensor under the truck. It’s nothing to be concerned about at this time as it never actually drips. Initially I was planning to just swap a new one in next time I changed the oil, but upon doing a little searching I see guys in other forums saying it’s a 10 hour job requiring a pan drop etc??? Is this right? Why can’t I just unbolt the three bolts on the current one and pop the new in from below?

Looks like there is no other way to get to it other than dropping the sump:

Can someone clarify where the oil level sensor is on a 2012 LR4 with V8.

Not a diesel and not a newer turbo V6.

I mean is it outside the sump and can be removed and replaced in 10 minutes..or insanely inside the sump?

OK smart guys ... which LR/RR products years have the sensor inside the sump.. I ask because there are some pretty knowledgable people on YouTube showing the metal clip JLR had to retrofit on the in sump level sensor to keep the wire/plug from disconnecting from the sensor..and the improved cable that gets the connector outside the sump that doesn't leak oil.

Thanks
