R.I.P Suspension - new parts needed

Hey everyone,

So my air suspension is dead. I took my car for a routine tire rotation, and after bringing it down from the lift, the suspension went crazy and won't rise to the normal level. Every time I turn on the car, I get the pretty orange symbol and Suspension Fault on the message display.

Took it in for an inspection at Land Rover Jaguar Sherman Oaks in CA. Nice people. Paid them $90 for the suspension inspection, but they will refund it to me if I have the work done there. Not a bad deal.

The inspection determined that I have a faulty air compressor and exhaust valve block. Dealer price on these parts are $840.67 for the compressor (part # LR015303), $196.50 for the valve (part # RVH000095). Bad news for me since I'm no longer under warranty and I don't have a job at the moment.

Does anyone know where I can get these parts for a more reasonable price? I have a 20% off membership card from Hornburg which I'm planning on using. It'll be like getting the valve for free.

Yeah, I checked his stuff. He's got one for $600. Not bad.

Many have had that diagnosis and it turned out to really be a bad sensor.

As in this other thread the last post after yours.

At least ask them to guarantee you won't be back in shortly with a sensor replacement.

I would take it to an independent since out of warranty. At least check with one. Much better prices there usually.

At least his car's rear would go up. Mine is slammed down like a lowrider and wont go up.

The place I went to hooked up the computer system that a LR dealer shop would use, and that's what they came up with.

You said you went to the Sherman Oaks Jaguar/Land Rover dealer, that is not an independent therefore not the best price.

From other people I know that went there they were not satisfied with the price or work.

You said the suspension went crazy and would not go up to regular height, not dead to the bumps. Access is different then bump stops and presumes the compressor might be working.

Did you go to another place after?

If you want help be clear about what you did and what is happening.

Which is it?

Did you get a better price better then LR Sherman Oaks, at the place that uses the same computer as a LR dealer?

Did the tire rotation place screw up and put the lift on the compressor in front of the left back tire? It has been known to happen.

The tire place didn't screw it up. I had my car lifted again and the compressor was ok. It wasn't smashed or dented or anything.

The Rover place I went to is not a dealer. LR Jag Sherman Oaks is small mom & pop shop that been around for over 25 years. They just happen to sell a few cars too. I think you're thinking of Land Rover Encino (that's the place that probably got bad customer reviews). Those idiots wanted $150 just for an inspection, the most expensive one that I found. The mom & pop shop asked for $90 and will refund it if I get the work done with them.

Other then the ebay option I heard these guys are cheaper to get parts from http://www.lrseries.com even shipping from overseas it is said to still be cheaper.

Does the compressor run at all and then shut off once the tank is full? You can jump compressor relay to see if it will run at all. It is relay number 7 under the hood in the compartmant next to the batt.

It still sounds odd that it all started one the tire company jacked it up. Did you pull the cover off the comp to inspect it. Sometimes the plastic cover doesn't really show it since it is flexable.

I did take the cover off to check it. It was ok. We did do the relay jump start (as well as hooking up a battery pack to the compressor) and the compressor showed some signs of life. I could hear it running but it wasn't very loud at all. It was sort of like a slow humming.
