Rust under front seats

I bought a 2012 LR4 HSE last week and spent a lot of time detailing it over the weekend. When I was cleaning the second row carpets I noticed the metal box under the front seats is covered in rust. I'm looking for some suggestions on a decent cleaning product to clean them without damaging the seat or the carpet. Appreciate any advice!

Remove the seats. Wire brush the metal and paint with Rustoleum.

Glad I’m not the only one with that part rusted. Mine aren’t too bad. Haven’t bothered to remove the rust.

That may be it, I'm not sure. It's the metal compartment visible from the second row under the rear of the driver and passenger seats.

Why would you bother unless you can see it? Time better spent fretting about plastic crossovers and loose chains.
