About 5 months ago, the "Reduced Engine Performance" message began to appear on my 2006 Sport when I am driving down a long freeway pass at about 70mph. Once I get to a flat freeway surface, the light will disappear, but as soon as I come to a place where I have to decelerate to 10mph or less, the car stalls. First, the yellow engine light comes on, and then the red battery and oil lights. If I catch the yellow engine light before the car actually stalls, I can prevent the stall by pressing the accelerator, but the light will appear again if I continue driving and need to slow down. If I stop, shut down the car and restart, the problem goes away.
Recently, I began having the same experience when driving on the road at about 30mph, always in the morning when I'm about 1/2 mile from home.
When the problem occurs, it almost always occurs in the same place (i.e the same stretch of freeway, the same stretch of road near my house). However, it doesn't happen every time I drive. The dealer says no faults are registering on the car, and when they test drive the car (even if I'm driving) the problem has not replicated itself. I've had it in 3 times already, and they don't fix the problem.
Any ideas what's happening?
