Yesterday, we had a huge blizzard like condition (Vancouver, BC, Canada) and I was out at the gym. When I came out, in a span of two hours, my LR3 was covered in snow. I was able to unlock the car via the handset and drove a few blocks away to get some dinner. When I tried to lock the door.. it wouldnt work. After repeatedly pressing the "arm" button, it finally worked. When I came back, I couldnt unlock the door. I used the manual way of getting into the LR and drove home. I tested it out.. still no luck. I came on line to do some reading and when I went back out to test some stuff out, it worked! And has continued working today.. strange...

And then today. I drove for a bit and enjoying the music and the sunshine (spring like weather..despite the snow covered city). I stopped off at a place and got back into the LR and the stereo didnt work.. I'd figured that it was one of those things where it might work afterwards and it did, after I met a friend for lunch, I got back into the car and the radio worked again.. strange..

Is this a normal reaction to cold or is this a sign that something bad is going to happen?

Thoughts please!

my LR3 has made all kinds of weird sounds and done crazy things when it gets cold and its only seen 20 degree weather here in Georgia. i'm sure it'll be fine. but remember it is a land rover so you never know.

If it's under warranty, have the dealer look at the electronics and/or the keys. I've had my D3 out in 4 F and below with no issues what so ever.

Might also be battery or alternator. These beasties are very sensitive to battery health. How old is yours?

It's a 2005. Just bought it with 37,000 miles on it. The dealership provided me with the maintenance records (it was their loaner for the past two years) and according to the records, the battery was replaced last August..
They've order me a second key (as part of my purchase) so when I go pick it up, I'll let the maintenance guys know about the electrical "strangeness"...

My 05 and a lot of others have had battery issues with the original OEM. Dealer will know, obviously. Anyone with an 05 still under warranty should ask at service. They replaced mine and I haven't had any issues since.

Don't know about the key, but I've had the radio not work for a while feature occasionally.

My radio used to go out. It would be on and you could chage channels ect. but no noise comming out of the speakers. They did an update on the radio and I have not had a problem since.
