I was also wondering the same thing. Ebay has the whole light assemblies for sale every now and then. Would these just be plug and play with the existing non xenon factory wiring, or do the LR3's w/Xenon's have a different wiring harness? They seem to be plug and play, just not sure if the wire size is bigger for the Xenon's. Has anyone actually replaced their regular halogen assemblies with factory Xenon assemblies?

The headlight assemblies on the LR3 are extremely easy to remove and install.

I am not sure if there is any kind of kit available, but I highly doubt any sort of turn-key solution is available since Xenon (HID) technology is completely different than Halogen. Not only is it typically run at a much higher voltage, but it also requires a ballast to regulate the arc that excites the Xenon gas and metal halide particles inside of the bulb-chamber.

Adaptive lights will go through the "dance" if you have your light control set to auto, when ever the truck starts. If it is not in auto, they will not perform the dance.

Not so in my case. I never use AUTO. But, as the original post said...randomly I seem to get a different show (or no show sometimes) every time I turn them on.

Thing is...I'm the only one that catches it! I try to show my wife and it won't do it! (or she misses it)

There's a guy on the disco3 forum that was able to upgrade his lights.

I checked out that forum for the disco, and it is not the discovery3, but a 2003 discovery. I don't have that one anylonger... anyone know about HID light kits for the LR3. The more I drive at night, the more aggitated I get. thx!

There is one more think about Xenon lights. They burn less wattage then the regular halogen lights. The problem is with the computer which is monitoring a specific wattage consumption. If you don't calibrate it for the new lights wattage you will probably get error codes due to the fact that the consumption will be different from what the puter is looking for. You might have to talk to the dealer about this.

well the hid kit will just replace the bulbs, comes with the wiring and ballast, the ''round'' part of the headlight (the one that looks like a fish eye), just can be done if you replace the whole headlamp, I am thinking on get one of those kits to see if they perform similar as by-xenon

im looking into this as well right now.. so far im pretty sure if you swap out the entire headlight fixture you can easily switch from the halogen to the xenon setup... but its going to cost the entire headlight price with looks to be about 800ish for the pair of xenon headlight setups.

im also going to post this question in the main thread to see if anyone else knows the answer to this.

I posted this in a previous thread, but yes you can upgrade the lights on an SE with NON-ADAPTIVE HIDS. You cannot however retro-fit ADAPTIVE HIDS on an SE, the wiring will not play in your favor: If you want to ugprade from Halogen to Xenon the following part numbers will allow you to simply swap out the headlights:

XBC001132 (left)
XBC001122 (right)
