I need some advice from the experts. i Have a 98 disco with just under 200,000 miles Motor was replaced last summer with used engine so it only has about 125,000 on engine. The disco has some of the normal issues leaking w/s, rear sunroof inop, quirky idle. but overall runs well. I have found several disco 2 around here with around 100,000 miles on them. My question is sould I keep what I have and fix and upgrade it or trade up to an 02 or 03. What concerns do the newer ones have over the older ones? Mine seems fair on drivetrain and body. does need new bumpers, due to minor dings no major damage, good excuse for winch and HD bumpers. Also rear springs sagging maybe 2-3 lift. but haw much longer will the drive train live. Under normal daily use (wife drives more than I do.)
I have other rig for ********* off road use. Just want to keep it reliable. It seems the d2 has more electrical issues than d1 (if thats possible)

Fix what you have. By up-grading you will have to deal with SAI heads from the newer engines and it is not worth it.

How much more life expectancy out of the d1 I hate to put money into it for an almost worn out rig. I do have a spare trans and transfer case . Axles seem ok. It had fair maintenance done before I got it and I have since got most everything else ok shape.

There are a number of high milers in Colorado from 225,000 to 300,000 still running strong.
