Transimission just went dead

Bad Luck or something had to go wrong? I had just posted a thread regarding a small leak on my front differential pumpkin and a few hours latter my transmission just went dead.
Well I was in the process of taking my Rover to the mechanic for the tune-up and the transmission just went into neutral. Every setting of the gear selector worked but the car just kept itself in neutral.
While at the mechanic, he tested it and got response of selector but after a few minutes it went into neutral again, has any one experienced this?
Any coments could help.

My mechanic thinks it's the transmission, could it be the transmission computer?

Wish I could answer this one, but this is an issue I have not heard about.

Well we just got the diagnostic my trany just went bye bye, I just ordered a new one.

Now the question is.... Is it worth keeping my rover after this? I was thinking of even going to something more simpler as a Defender 90.
