Transmission pan bolt broke

So my transmission pan was leaking and I realized I forgot the washer. When I replaced the washer, I discovered the bolt thread was broken off (inside the transmission pan I think). Now I just drained out all my almost new transmission fluid and it looks like I'm going to have to remove the broken thread (If I can) or replace the entire transmission pan. Either way, my car is undrivable until I get it fixed!!!! What a stupid mistake!

Sorry to hear about you issues... if you need to replace the pan, contact Will Tillery at www.roverguy.com he almost always has a spare something for sale.

Thanks. I worked on it again this morning and I used a stripped bolt extractor tool and removed the broken thread that was stuck in the pan. I think the pan is alright; I just over torqued the bolt without the washer and broke the bolt. I could only find one place online that carried a replacement bolt, so I went ahead and ordered one. I'm hoping this works, because $11 for a bolt is way better than $75 for a new pan and bolt, but if this doesn't work, I will have to go ahead and get a new pan. I feel like a ***** because after all the time I spent replacing the transmission filter and fluid, I screw the whole thing up by forgetting one simple, minor thing at the end (putting the washer on). I realized it was off after I had filled it up with fresh, expensive fluid. I won't be making this mistake again! For now my rover is out of commission.
