My 99 DII was Misfiring on Cylinders 1 and 6 and Rough Idling very hard. With the help of this site I put new Magnecor 8mm on and discovered that an idiot Bushduck here locally had reversed the plugs on the terminals of the coil packs for Cylinders 1 and 6 which was causing the problems..

the ****** also lost my key and kept my truck for a full month and couldn't fix this simple problem that I was able to resolve in 5 minutes. So never use a Bushduck named Mac in Buford, Ga -he is absolutely horrible

Anyways Now that I've fixed the prob, the Truck drives incredible, but the service engine light is still on- how can I turn it off?

Not sure on the service engine light on a DII, but I would check to make sure that 1) you don't have any stored codes for the OBDII system.

Then 2) try this... I think this works on D1 and D2.... http://204.157.1.3/reset/index.htm

Find an autozone and have them read the codes and erase them.

Wait Wait Wait - is it the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT or the SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT?
The CEL needs to be shut off with a diagnostic tool such as a car chip or a dealer or some hand held OBDII code readers. The SEL is a different story and you should be able to turn it off on your own. I will look after work tonight for a way for you to do it on a D2 - I know how to do it on a D1, not sure about your vehicle.

It was the Service Engine light, but this mornng it went off by itself after I changed all of the plugs out again

On one of these forums I picked up the wrong chart for the plug wiring and I had all 8 of the wires reversed and connected to the wrong terminals on the the coil packs.. (thought the wires seemed short) I pulled out the owner's manual last night and noticed their chart was different and after putting the plugs on the right terminals the light went off by itself and the difference is amazing :).. Just hope I didn't do any damage to the Engine or Cataltyc Converter driving it with all of the plugs on the wrong terminals.

Funny thing is that it ran 100 times better with all 8 Magnecor wires on the wrong terminals than it did with the worn plugs on the correct terminals.

Good, glad to hear that! Yup, I added the 8mm blue mag plug wires, bosch platinum +4 plugs, and a K&N air filter all at the same time and I could really tell a difference!
