under 15k miles, you get alignment and tires

I tried taking LR to task on this. My tires were unevenly worn in the rear (only on the passenger side) and they wouldn't budge. I paid for the alignment and didn't get ANY re-imbursement for the tires. I was WAY over the 15k miles mark, but honestly the tire that first went bad had only been on for about 4 months and maybe 10,000 miles. I'd replaced it because the original got gouged on a trail run I was on. ...but there is no way to prove that.

Consequently, due to LR's handling of this, I've contacted a Lemon Law Lawyer; they will handle things from here. I'm very disappointed that LRNA didn't take more ownership of this problem. You guys should've heard the ridiculous arguments they made with me over the phone.

Houm_WA, I'm confused on what you are trying to resolve. You want them to pay for the 1 tire you already replaced?

Or do you have additional problems that fall into your state's lemon law? (In California, we don't really need a lawyer... if it clearly fits within the definition... it is normally resolved even before arbitration, as long as it's clear.)

Uh, the problem isn't "worm tires" exactly... it's uneven tire wear (with correct tire pressure, of course.) For example, the inner side of the rear LR3 tires can wear excessively.

look at your rear tires from the back of the vehicle. if yours are wearing improperly, youll see the inside of the tires are worn down dramatically worse that the rest of the tire. almost as if the inner 1/3 of the tire is a slick and the rest has normal tread. this is not a picture of my tires, just one i found on a website that look similar to what mine looked like. mostly on the inside edge.

Clarification for Grommet

Grommet,

I wanted LR to compensate me at a minimum for the alignment that I paid for...and would've liked to have some compensatory gesture for only getting about half the normal life out of the set of tires. I think it's ridiculous to expect 15k miles out of a set of tires and/or to have a 4x4 of the LR3's pedigree have such a touchy alignment. If they issued a TSB (in the UK or otherwise) then they should acknowledge the problem and act responsibly.

I have had many other problems with my HSE, and that is the basis for my Lemon Law action; the tire issue is merely the straw the broke the camel's back.

I love the vehicle, and could even live with the issues/problems....but only if LR steps up and decides to treat me and its other customers as something of value to them.

I went through this issue very early on (initally before the TSB was published, then soon thereafter). In the end, LR paid for one re-alignment plus they paid to replace 1 of the 2 rear tires. I had them use my full-size spare for the other rear side. And LRNA gave me $300 on top of the fixes as a good-will gesture.

Subsequently replaced the front tires at about 10K miles (they were being rotated front/rear during the initial wear period) and sent one to Houm_WA for a replacement for his spare. Sounds like things have gone down hill since then?

I'm actually glad they didn't pay to replace mine with the same old crap. Would have been nice if they did an alignment though...love my Michelins!

I have 25K miles since the HP Wranger replacement tires (and re-alignment) and only minor tire noise now. Otherwise they are absolutely fine. I may change brands next time, but just wanted to report that these did work out in the end.
