Thanks all. Sorry fir the delayed response, life got in the way. Ha.

I will give it a go. I thought steering initially as well but usually with that (or my past experience with other vehicles) the steering whiiiir gets louder when you turn the wheel and thus does not.

Regardless will see what’s what soon enough.

It sounds to me like an alternator ballbearing, I used to drive an old Peugeot 206 with a dying alternator and it sounds pretty similar.

Flushed and replaced power steering fluid- man was it time.... but still whining - so thinking water pump... I think I can smell coolant cooking off on motor - how can you confirm?

Hey - I thought I followed up here.
Regardless it was a belt pulley on the side of the engine. Replaced it and was good to go. Truck is quiet, and runs great.

I can ask my mechanic exactly what the part was that was replaced.
