Will these Wheels fit?

I'm about ready to purchase the wheels linked above if I can get some assurance that the offset won't be an issue.

I measured the clearance with the wheels cranked each direction. The distance between fender wells (front and back) does not seem to be a concern as it is 2+ inches all around. It is the distance from the control arm to the tire rubber that concerned me. It seems only about .75" and my current tires are 255 55/R18.

I will be keeping the same width of tire, going to 255 70/R18 (which is very tall, I know). My co-worker has these and they don't rub a bit. I am also going to add the Johnson rods and get the vehicle aligned at the dealer afterwards.

These new rims backspacing is 6 instead of 6.5. I put in the specs of my current wheel/tire (left) and the new wheel/tires (right) at http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

When superimposed in picture #2 (with the new wheel aligned at the mounting pad) it appears the space between the control arm and the rubber increases (a good thing). That also seems backwards if the backspacing is actually less on the new wheel? Just wanting to make sure the new wheel/tire combo does not rub on the control arm.

I found a fabricator who will make 4 hub-centric aluminum rings for $100 so the new wheels will be hub-centric also.

(PICS BELOW)

Got these tires and rims installed yesterday.

Due to the difference in backspace with these aftermarket rims, they sit about 3/8" closer to the outside of the vehicle. The hub-centric ring probably adds 1/16".

As mentioned, my friend at work has the same 255/70 R18 Toyo Open Country A/T II tires on stock rims. TALL, but narrower than others - so the weight is actually less than many of the recommended tires. I thought he had no rubbing, but he clarified they initially rubbed sometimes in the back, when going in reverse at tight radius. That rubbing stopped after a while. Either the tires wore down - or the wheel well contact point was rubbed down. I looked again in his wheel well and saw light rub marks at the back/rear of the well.

With my aftermarket rims (due to the different offset) - I have zero rubbing in the rear but do have significant rubbing in the front wheel (front outside) going in reverse with a wheels turned about 50%.

I removed the bottom screw in the fender, removed that black plastic tab behind the screw (not the integrated plastic nut, that was ok to leave) and removed a 1/4" strip of the overlapping material that extends inward/down past the bumper - about 1/4" x 4-6" strip. This is easy to take off (like 30 seconds) with a utility knife. I did the first side with a dremel, which was time consuming and messy. Did not realize the plastic was so soft and a utility knife makes the job clean and fast. Wish I had done the driver side that way. This is all at standard height. At access height, there was still no rubbing after the modification - however I have not tried severe turns at access height yet.

Wow man... looks great! Glad to hear that everything worked out with minor modifications.

Great choice with the rims and the tires too. I'd like to see a straight on stance shot from the front and back whenever you get a chance.

The wheels look great. Good tire size choice. I might go that way next time.

Thanks for the additional pics Delray.

Again, very good choices on the rims and tires... I love my AT2's. Your stance is nice.
