On my 2012 LR4, During very heavy rain i get a small amount of water dripping from the driver side, roof pillar airbag cover. Any ideas where it could be coming through. The windscreen is after market, replaced before I took ownership. I’m wondering if it’s not sealed properly. Anyone else have this issue?

IIRC, I think one of the sunroof drains runs down the A-Pillar of on each side.

Open the sunroof. Look towards the front corner on each side and you should see a drain outlet. Pull the A-Pillar trim and you should see the tube that connects to it and runs down to the outlet somewhere around the side air intakes I believe.

Make sure the drain tubes are still connected and free of obstruction by either snaking them or blowing a bit of air through them.

There is a detailed procedure in the service manual if you have access to it.

Windscreen leak is possible I guess, but most water intrusion issues in these trucks seem to originate with the various drain hoses.

Thanks Avlash, great advice. Is it typical for water to get passed the sunroof seal?

This is a common issue and I remember reading about it back in 2012 when I first started considering an LR4. The water should end up draining behind the front wheels. I always check to make sure it flows properly when I wash it.

I've never understood this issue. With the sunroof closed, you see water coming out the sunroof drains when you wash it? Or do you actually pour water down the drains to test? In 14 years of these trucks, I don't think a drop of water has ever gone done by drain tubes, lol.

Best thing to clear it is line for a **** eater. I had the same issue on passenger side. Cleared it right up.

Yep, I had the same thing happen to me years ago. I cleaned the tube and that did the trick.

If it isnt the roof then it's likely not properly sealed windscreen. We had the same and it turned out to be the windscreen (non original). Now replaced and all is ok.

Thanks all. Had heavy rain last night and water dripping in. So opened up the sun roof this morning and the gutter is dusty dry so don’t believe any water is getting in through the sunroof seal. Going to take off the pillar trim and use a hose to try and locate the leak tonight.

I had the same thing a couple of weeks ago. Got the tube cleaned, only for it to happen again on Friday. Took it back to the shop today for them to look at it and they think that the headliner was pressing against the tube on the drivers' side causing it to be pinched and then not drain properly. They installed a hard elbow to prevent this from happening in the future.
