Is it a huge pain to get these wiper arms off?
It hasn’t been …..the issue is that the hinge for the arm is spring-loaded, which makes pulling it off the splined shaft straight, challenging. Hence the suggestion for a prying tool.
I have encountered some minor corrosion on the drive splines that has made things tight but a squirt of TPS or similar penetrating fluid helped.

There are a few videos out of Australia that say just to get on them and yank them off - I would not recommend as you don't want to bend them in any way.
The tool makes removal very easy.
My splines were fine, but all 3 of mine are in no-salt conditions.
You might want to use a bit of copper grease when reassembling just to avoid any future issues.

Put an old coat or blanket on the windscreen about where the wiper blade arm could hit.

Pulling the arm off should not be too difficult but spray some kind of thread release agent around near etc the post for a few days prior to attempting to remove the blade arm.

One might also remove the rubber blade itself to make the arm a bit more manageable but for certain wrap the blade end of the arm in something soft and use the coat or blanket etc over the glass to protect the glass when the blade arm gets inadvertently spring drops onto the glass with a few inches of force behind it.

The copper grease idea on the posts is a good one regarding reassembly.

just did the job this past friday, pretty straight forward, pulled the wipers off by renting a tie rod puller from oreilly's and they came off pretty easily (california car up until recently). then pull the -pillar trim off, remove the top of the battery and braking system compartment covers so you can pull the weather stripping off the cowl. then the cowl pops off. I cut up a water bottle and siliconed the top over the part that sticks beyond the windshield. Then I dumped water on it from the windshield to make sure it would work in the event that the cowl fails again. After that I simply clipped in the new cowl into place (make sure you push in all the clips, reference the old cowl to see where they are). I Put the weather stripping back and put the a-pillar trims on and then the wipers. Finally I replaced my cabin filter.

NOTE: I bought the a pillar trim rebuild kit from atlantic british and it was a POS, does not water seal the a-pillar. I have to duct tape the trim pieces for now while I order the clips from a genuine Land Rover site (they are NOT cheap)

I agree, the cowl I ordered is genuine rover from FCP, i just screwed up on the A-pillar clips. You live and you learn, always buy OE or Genuine!
Not hard to do.
A pillars are not fully sealed. Water drains outside of the vehicle.
